Oliver Saxton — WA, Youth, born 2003 (Pictured above)
This Youth lifter from Western Australia has been progressing at an incredible rate over the past year. Oliver will be looking to continue his rise heading into 2020.
Since 2016, when he placed 9th at his first Australian Youth Nationals, Oliver has slowly crept up the leaderboard and in 2019, won his first National Championship and got his first taste of the international platform competing at the Oceania Champs in Samoa.
We haven’t even finished January yet and Oliver has already competed in 2020… and already put 10kg on his total from last year. If this is a sign of things to come, it’s going to be a big year for this young lifter.

Phoenix Goodwin — Vic, Youth, born 2004
Phoenix is one of the rising stars of Australian weightlifting, and she’s shining even more brightly heading into 2020. Phoenix won best overall Under 15 lifter at Nationals in 2019 as well as winning best overall Under 15, Youth and Junior lifter in the Victorian state champs — and she did all that within her first year of competing.
After Youth Nationals in 2019, Phoenix has been plagued with injury but is determined to get back to her fighting best by mid-year and push for a spot on the Australian team to head to Peru for the IWF Youth World Champs.
You won’t be seeing much of Phoenix in the first half of the year but keep an eye out in the latter half as she starts to throw around some heavyweight around again.
